Well Testing Design Analysis and Interpretation Course
Introduction:
This course is intended to provide delegates with the principles of dynamic well testing relating to downhole, sub-sea and surface equipment. It also gives an insight into well test planning, execution, QC and data analysis. The delegates will get an understanding of how hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs are evaluated, i.e. formation properties, wellbore damage, reservoir boundaries, and heterogeneities - in terms of wellbore pressures and flow rates.
Course Objectives:
After completion of this, course you Will Learn:
- Basic Reservoir Understanding and Reservoir concepts - porosity and permeability - Reservoir drive mechanisms
- VOI (Value of Information) - Reasons for performing well tests
- Types of Test; Oil or Gas, Cased hole, Barefoot – Open hole, Closed Chamber, Isochronal, Multi-Rate - Deciding type of Test
- Understanding of Requirements
- Surface well test equipment description and operation - Phase tester versus Separator - Burner heads - heat radiation
- Downhole and sub-sea well test equipment description and operation
- Well test planning - Conducting a well test - Fluid flow rate calculations - Perforation design - Sand production - Deep water considerations
- Preparation of a complete testing program - Rates required/expected - sizing of equipment and flow lines - suitability of rig equipment - Sand, Hydrates, wax, water etc. to be considered
- Safety on surface - pressure-testing ESD - function testing drills etc.
- Electric line testing - Generic Downhole Equipment ( MDT , RCI, RDT)
- Hazards - Nitrogen Handling - H2S / CO2 – Hydrates – Sand, etc.
- Selection and position of gauges; Surface read out systems versus memory only tests.
- QC of test data – surface data and gauge data
- On-site analysis
- Interpretation of test data
Who Should Attend?
Geologists; Drilling Engineers; Reservoir Engineers; Petroleum and Production Engineers; Development, Asset and Project Managers.
