Rig Maintenance Technology Course
Introduction:
This course will update the participants with both fundamentals and up-to-date technology of drilling operations. It presents up-to-date information on drilling rig types and personnel. Rig systems, preparing for drilling and drilling operations different types of casing and their design, cementing practices hole problems, and horizontal and directional drilling are covered in this course. Possible problems and hazards associated with drilling will be reviewed. Practical cases that both the instructor and the attendees have come across will be analyzed and discussed.
Course Objectives:
The course content aims to introduce a wide range of Well Engineering techniques and issues to create awareness of the range of activities and the associated practical implications, which will complement a well-site assignment. For Well Engineering staff, the course provides a foundation for Round 1 studies. At the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Understand the process of well design which include lithological description of a given formation, formation pressures (pore, fracture and overburden pressures
- Understand well pressure control and its calculations
- Understand well pressure control and its calculations
- Perform basic Well Engineering calculations (casing and cement jobs, drill string design, directional drilling and drilling fluid calculations)
- Interpret data from the Well Engineering morning reports (reading and discussing)
- Understand well engineering terminology and abbreviations
- Describe common drilling problem (Stuckpipe, loss circulation etc)
- Contribute immediately in their first work assignments
- Recognize the value and function of data collected during well construction.
- Be able to present his participation on a project to design a complete well
- Enhance; presentation and technical writing skills
Who Should Attend?
Operators, technicians, engineers, managers, and maintenance personnel who are involved in drilling and completion technology.
